Elisa Reis is current Vice-President of the International Science Council (ISC). She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science (MIT, USA) and is Professor of Political Sociology at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ-Brazil) where she is also chair of the Interdisciplinary Research Network for the Study of Social Inequality (NIED). A member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of TWAS, she has over one hundred articles published in Brazil and elsewhere and has held visiting professorships in several foreign universities.
