Significant and systemic disparities, both social and economic, within and between societies, rank among the most pressing global challenges of our era. These inequalities intersect with a range of other global issues, including climate change, migration, pandemics, warfare, organised crime, and political extremism.
Various aspects of the law – encompassing economic and social rights, welfare legislation, property law, criminal codes, tax law, and market regulations – contribute to these inequalities and are key political instruments to address them as well as alter the dynamics of marginalisation.
In this roundtable discussion, distinguished scholars who have dedicated their careers to understanding the causes of inequality and exploring ways to alter its underlying dynamics will share their insights on the most critical research challenges in this field over the next decade.
