The Aarebrot Lecture is an annual lecture held at the University of Bergen in the memory of Professor Frank Aarebrot. This year’s lecture will be held by Karl Ove Moene on economic equality and inequality.
Professor Karl Ove Moene is an economist at the University of Oslo (UiO) and he is currently leading the Centre of Equality, Social Organization and Performance at UiO. Moene’s research focuses on exploring how economic inequality and wealth distribution is related to the organization of labour market and economic institutions, particularly in the Nordic model.
The Aarebrot Lecture is held to honour Aarebrot’s outstanding engagement in communicating academic work through public speaking. Each year a scholar excelling in communication skills is invited to hold a lecture on the topic of their field of work. The lecture has a very specific format as it is a 200-minute-long lecture. The lecture is both streamed digitally and can be attended in person.
This year’s lecture will be held at Teglverket at the Akademiske Kvarteter in Bergen. The event is for free and open to everybody. The lecture will also be livestreamed and a recording of it will be made available at a later point in time.
Please note that this event is held in Norwegian.
