From 7-10 September 2021, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) and the University of Bergen (UiB) are hosting the 13th annual SANORD (Southern African – Nordic Centre) conference in Bergen. The main topic of the conference is Vitalizing parnerships, and the conference focuses on how SANORD partners can use and strengthen partnerships with the aims of meeting the needs of the UN 2030 Agenda. The topic will be discussed with a number of interesting sub-themes such as climate, education, health, innovation and epistemic challenges.
GRIP has contributed to the conference programme and here are some of the sessions we encourage you to follow particularly closely:
- Keynote Speaker: Maria Paula Meneses
This session will take place Thursday 9. September at 12.30pm CEST and is titled “Food as knowledge, interconnecting the Global South”. The session will be chaired by GRIP’s executive director Bjørn Enge Bertelsen with discussant Pamila Gupta.

- Sessions on sub-theme “Epistemic challenges, intellectual labour and South-North partnerships”
The parallel sessions under this title discusses the calls to re-think global politics and partnerships challenging the long-standing, hegemonic understandings of (academic and other) knowledges and global academic hierarchies. The sessions on this topic will be running both 8-9 September. Description of the four sessions can be found in the program under the track “Epistemic”.
